Hola! Buenos dias!
We arrived at our last Mexico port of call at 7 AM on Feb 18th, 2022. This post will be relatively short. We have been to Acapulco several times, and without an excursion the security warnings convinced us that we didn’t need to leave the ship. (Two years without cruise ships coming here have made the poor criminals more desperate, so we were all warned to not go out if we didn’t need to – we didn’t need to.)
No cliff divers or cathedrals to show you today. Plenty of time for more stuff in the future! Here are some views of Acapulco from the ship, and some of the things we could see without going ashore.
The bay entrance behind us
The small bay where we dock
The ship’s dock is below the fort
A pretty little park has been added to the end of the dock area
The fort is pentagonal in shape with two of the star points facing us
A lighthouse adorns the end of this harbor
It’s a lovely lighthouse!
From the front of the ship we can see the little park and the road curving around to the main beaches of Acapulco
The city and beaches extend along the bay – that is a long, hot walk we have done several times before
While Joy contemplates the view, I played 9 holes of putt putt.
We were fortunate to have a local mariachi band come on board to play a concert for us!
Even Ray, our cruise director, got into the spirit of the mariachi!
And Jack, our art instructor, whipped out a great painting of the band during the 45 minute concert
The fort is much prettier in afternoon lighting as we pull away from the dock
And the long beaches of Acapulco line the entire view as we leave harbor
Sunset was a full two hours later, I missed the set, but the afterglow is still gorgeous!
So much for Acapulco. Next stop – a second round at Puntarenas! I already know my zipline excursion there has been cancelled. I haven’t decided on anything else yet. More in the next post!
Hasta la bye bye!
