Port 80 Tallinn, Estonia

Tere! (Hello!)

We were socked in with fog as we approached Tallinn on May 26th, 2022. Fortunately we weren’t docking until noon – visibility raised to about a half mile by then. But then the rain started…

We pulled straight in to the dock, so I don’t have a view of anything on land. Rats! Remember, I’m in quarantine…

Late morning the ship that was apparently next to us left. This is the Aida Vita.

Then something curious happens. The Aida Vita turns the corner, and stops!

A few hours later our neighbor on the other side, the Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas, backs out. Aida still sits.

Then it’s time for us to leave. We begin to back out. Aida is still there.

As we head out I finally get to see some of the things on shore. I see nine churches in this one shot. How many do you see? OK, OK, the focus is not great. But the spires are still visible!

The pilot boat begins to chase us, so we’re close to being free!

We turn out to sea, and leave Estonia behind!

We say “hüvasti” (farewell) and “head aega” (goobye) to Tallinn and Estonia!  Next port – Helsinki, Finland!
