Port 79 Riga, Latvia

Labdien!

We sailed in to Riga on May 25th, 2022. We had partly cloudy skies with a promise of rain showers.

The ship begins its swing around to the dock.

We see some very new towers on the other side of the river, and clearly something else under construction.

A graceful bridge appears, and we find we have the company of another Mein Schiff cruise ship!

OK, here’s the grand news. Not. Today I found that I am COVID positive. Joy is moved to another stateroom because she, thankfully, is negative. But now I am quarantined to our stateroom. So for the next several ports this blog will only contain what I can see from the veranda.

This is one way to ensure the blogs stay short… I apologize in advance for the lack of content you’ll see.

We didn’t have an excursion planned for today. We just wanted to walk around town.

These are the only buildings of historical interest I can see.

After hours of trying to catch up on older blog posts it’s time to leave.

As we head out on the river, this building pops up and looks really creepy!

Then these buildings pop up. The growing grass on every balcony is curious – what was this building for?

We finally break out of the river and clear the breakwater.

We say visu labu to Riga! Next port of call – Tallinn, Estonia!
