Port 52 Santorini, Greece

Yasu!

It was a rainy moring when we arrived at Santorini on Apr 19th, 2022.

The beautiful town of Oia (pronounced ee-yuh) sits on the north end of the island. We slide by on our way to the port area at Fira (pronounced thira). It’s sad that we have cloud cover. These cities pop when the blue sky is behind them!

This is Fira and the path up from the water. You can also make out the poles for the cable car – it’s much easier to ride than climb!

Part of my entertainment was watching the P&O Azura come in and set up to drop anchor.

At this point I’ll confess that we did not go ashore today. It rained all morning so we stayed on the ship. About 1 PM the clouds cleared and I was able to get the following shots. I just want to capture the beauty of the buildings against the sky!

We elected to not go ashore – the Azura’s people all headed to the island – we knew the lines for the cable car would be long, and our ship would be leaving early.

This one didn’t get blue sky, but the windmills are actually easier to see against the clouds!

This is one view I don’t recall seeing before. The caves are interesting!

We leave early in the afternoon.

Avtios, Santorini! Next stop – Dubrovnik, Croatia!
