Port 20 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Buenos dias!

Just before noon on  Feb 15th, 2022, we pulled in to the harbor of Cabo San Lucas. We watched the famous arch slide by just before the ship set anchor. This is another port where we ride the tender boat to shore.

Having been here three or four times before we didn’t book any excursions and planned to book a local boat for whale watching.

Classic Cabo arch

Farther in we can see the harbor

At the harbor we find a whale watching tour and learn for just a little more each we can make it private. The company assigned “White Shark” to us and introduced us to Gabino, the captain and guide.

White Shark is our boat for whale watching – our skipper is Gabino

Joy boarding “White Shark” while Gabino holds the boat steady

“Clear Boats” were a sight to see!

We saw all of the touristy rocks they like to show before we head out to look for whales.

This rock is the map of Baha California, upside down

The slot – water rushes in and out between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez

This is Scooby Doo rock!

And, of course:

Cabo San Lucas’s famous arch (El Arco)!

Here are a few of the results of our whale watching tour.

Humpback prelude to a possible dive – when gliding they don’t rise this high

Shallow tail

Beautiful tail!

Stunning tail!

This last photo is an event we saw over a dozen times, but it was so fast it was difficult to catch it on camera. I have lots of photos of splashes, but only this one of the actual tail!

Tail slap – we only saw this in calves in Maui – this is an adult. Amazing!

Back in harbor we take a walk. Here are some things we saw.

Lighthouse between the rows of boats

A friendly barker

Jack, our art instructor, painting at a dockside bar – the painting on the table is the lighthouse

Found a camel in Cabo!

Have you ever heard of a dairy bar?

Not sure I feel welcome at this joint

A lovely lady strolling through Cabo

Some interesting condos on the hillside

On the tender ride back to the ship I saw this! I love the detail I see in the moon – usually it’s just a white blob.

Insignia under a full moon

Insignia heads out after sunset.

The waterfront lights up!

Cabo arch by moonlight – the solitary light is a fishing boat

And we say goodbye to Baha California! Next stop – Mazatlan!
