Port 18 Los Angeles, California
Greetings!
After 9 long days at sea we arrived on Feb 12th, 2022, back in the port of Los Angeles for the second time on this Magincal Mystery Tour!
We are in a different berth than the last time. We can see the entry into the harbor through the breakwater.
There aren’t any excursions in LA. Our only task is to make a run to the hardware store. So the photos below capture what we see around us at the dock, and a little excitement as we get ready to set sail. I’m trying to reduce my chatter to get these posts out quicker. Please let me know if this is OK or if you prefer the chatter.
The marina in front of us is a collection of yacht clubs, including the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club, Los Angeles Yacht Club, and Freedom Boat Club.
We find the pool is decorated with signal flags. It would have been nice if they had gone thru the effort to have it actually say something meaningful! With the puffy winds it look more like laundry hanging out to dry.
As a classic “black and white” pulls up I notice the stacks of pallets that represent what was loaded on the ship today – 86 pallets of food and supplies, after a 10-day run since our last docking in Raiatea.
The sun lights up the lighthouse and departing ships perfectly!
We miss the full sunset colors, having to leave for dinner a few minutes before the sun completed its magic.
As we get ready to shove off, I happened to be watching the removal of the gangway. I was shocked to see them using a forklift! There was a lot of work to disconnect the gangway at both ends before the man on the gound ran down to fire up the forklift.
We sail on, leaving the dock crew to figure out how to report this one to management.
We say goodbye, for the second time, to Los Angeles. Next port, San Diego (round 3)!
For your information, here is the itinerary for this segment, Los Angeles to Barbados, until it changes…
